Death & Dying Well
Nov. 2 and 16 after worship
This fall, Rebecca and Martha are hosting two conversations about end-of-life and memorial planning. While these topics are often addressed in the midst of grief, we hope that these after-church offerings will be a place to discuss how to faithfully approach death and dying well with curiosity and care.
On Nov. 2, we will meet in the Sanctuary to talk about memorial service planning. What do we, as Christians, believe funerals “do?” What are some of the ways you can make your service feel reflective of your life? What are the questions you haven’t even thought to address? Glenn from Concord Funeral Home will attend and share some of his experiences, and Music Director Jonathan Giblin will play some beloved funeral hymns on the piano (singing along is allowed and encouraged!).
On Nov. 16, we will meet in the Parlor to discuss end-of-life planning, using the Five Wishes document. How does our faith inform our end-of-life care? How do you have hard conversations about end-of-life wishes with loved ones? How do we leave a positive and lasting legacy? What are some ways to make the transition from life to death meaningful, for you or your loved ones?
For both of these conversations, all are welcome, particularly those who may be thinking about their own planning, and those who may be having these conversations with a spouse, parent, or other loved one. Come to one or both!
