We strive as members to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world.
What Does Membership Mean?
In the bible, one of the most common images for the church is the Body of Christ. The term “membership” comes from that body metaphor. We are all members or parts of the body that work together, each bringng our own God-given spiritual gifts to build up the body as a whole.
Membership in the church is therefore an active role - a way to living. We strive as members to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world. As members of the body of Christ, we believe that God’s Spirit works in and through us to be instruments of Christ’s love, healing, compassion, peace, and justice.
There are two dimensions to membership - the global and the local. Through baptism and confirmation we become members of the church universal (global) as well as members of a particular church (local). Through membership and joining ceremonies, we are becoming members of a local church and affirming our membership by baptism into the global church.
What Does Membership Mean at TriCon?
Being a member of TriCon means being a part of a vibrant and robust community. Everyone is welcome at TriCon to attend worship services, participate in communion, be a part of a small group, or attend any number of events TriCon puts on throughout the year. However by making it official and becoming a member of TriCon, you become an active participant. You can join committees and have your voice be heard. You can have an active role in dictating the path and the future of the church and participate in the life of TriCon.
