OUR MUSIC PROGRAM
Our music program is a vital part of our community of faith. While we navigate our life with COVID, we are not singing as a choir or as a congregation. The CDC has determined singing in a group to still be an increased risk for transmission of the virus. We look forward to returning to Sunday morning choir and singing congregational hymns together in the near future.
If you have questions about the Senior Choir, please contact Music Director Victoria Wagner.
Under Vickie’s direction, in regular circumstances, the choir’s repertoire ranges from renaissance motets to spirituals, from classical masterworks to jazz, and from works of Buxtehude sung in German to African songs sung in the Zulu or Bantu languages. Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings and prior to Sunday worship. There are opportunities for short term participation, such as Advent-Christmas, or Lent-Easter, or “Sunday-only Choir” (without midweek rehearsals). There are also opportunities for solos or small ensemble singing. The Senior Choir is open to adults and teenagers, who enjoy singing, can read music, and can commit to the rehearsal and worship schedule.
Pictured above are our young Hosanna Singers, who have in past services sung in worship and participated in special services and events.
Instrumentalists from our own church community and professional musical circles also enhance our worship. They accompany the choir, play the prelude or postlude, or provide musical leadership for the entire service.
