2017 SEEKERS Trip to NYC and St. John the Divine
March 2017

Our 7th and 8th graders have the opportunity to join the SEEKERS Program, led by our Associate Minister and Church School Director.  SEEKERS meet once a month to explore faith, enjoy one another’s company and contribute to local service projects, such as Open Table, Cor Unum, City Mission Society’s Christmas Shop, Seafarers, and CropWalk.

Our annual winter overnight SEEKER adventure is the highlight on our calendar. On even years we head to Portland, Maine for a two-night mission based program supporting Partners for World Health. Free time is spent playing team building activities, roller skating, and fun and games AND s’mores around a bonfire.

On odd years, the amazing cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC is our overnight destination where we participate in their Nightwatch program. The Christian-oriented evening focuses on the wisdom teachings of Jesus and includes spiritual contemplation, thought provoking, fun activities and a very special midnight worship service.

SEEKERS is not intended to be a series of events children can pick and choose from but rather a year long program offering an opportunity for the kids to come together as a group prior to participating in 10th Grade Confirmation and the High School youth program. As the middle school years can be challenging, SEEKERS is safe haven for children to feel the love of God and the support of our church community. This program is supported by SEEKER parents, who volunteer as event leaders, chaperones and drivers.

We have a parent supported Middle School Youth Group which meets for activities such as hiking and biking trips, snow tubing, game and movie nights. An emphasis is placed on mission work as well. We function as a cooperative Church School, meaning we ask all families who have registered their children to help support our Children’s ministry programs by volunteering their time and talents.  Signing up to support programming is a crucial piece of the registration process and critical to the success of our program.  We depend on all Church School families to volunteer as teachers and in other program roles.

If your family is new to our program, please contact our Church School Director Carrie O’Brien to provide registration information.  Before you can volunteer, you need to complete some forms as part of our SAFE CHURCH policy.

Please click on the link below to access our Safe Church page with all the necessary forms that need to be completed if you will be volunteering in any capacity.  They need to be completed and mailed or dropped off at the church asap.
